About Beautiful Dorset
Beautiful Dorset takes the reader on a photographic tour around this beautiful county, at the heart of southwest England. The first chapter provides a general introduction to the region, describing its landscape, economy, culture and tourism. The following five chapters are a series of photo essays, each concentrating on a particular part of Dorset, namely:
The Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch urban hub and centre of tourism;
The inland parts of eastern Dorset, taking in such places as Blandford Forum and Shaftesbury;
The Isle of Purbeck and the eastern stretch of the magnificent Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. This photo essay covers Studland, Corfe Castle, Wareham, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door;
The western stretch of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, covering Weymouth, Portland, Chesil Beach and Lyme Regis;
The inland part of western Dorset, covering the Sherborne, Beaminster and Dorchester areas.
Within each photo essay, subject matter covers such themes as landscapes, gardens, beaches, harbours and street scenes, covering both famous views/locations and lesser known places.
